Once is never enough, and if you’re a content marketing machine, you know exactly what I'm talking about. The smartest content marketers have systems set up to reuse and repurpose their content over and over again. Everything they publish gets reformatted or split up into smaller content chunks.

Before we get started, I have two pro tips for recycling content.

Pro tip #1: Pick your best pieces of content.

Yep, thats right. Not every piece of content needs to be repurposed, republished and reinvented. Instead, take a look at your best performing posts and choose your top dawgs.

Pro tip #2: Wait at least two weeks to recycle.

Yep, you’ve gotta wait two weeks to recycle content from it’s original posting date. This gives search engines enough time to index your original blog.

  1. Repurpose it into a section of an E-book.
  2. Add it in as a few pages to a full-length book.
  3. Add it into a SlideShare deck or Power Point.
  4. Repost it as a LinkedIn post.
  5. Repurpose it as a post on Medium.
  6. Submit it to another blog for republishing.
  7. Design an infographic.
  8. Create a short video on Facebook.
  9. Create a video on YouTube.
  10. Record a short video for your own website.
  11. Use it as the featured article for your e-newsletter.
  12. Record a short podcast episode.
  13. Use it as a section of a white paper.
  14. Divide it into 20 different Tweets.
  15. Create a Pinterest pin out of it.
  16. Divide it up into 3 LinkedIn updates.
  17. Slice it up into 5 Google+ updates.
  18. Record a few minutes and turn it into a webinar.
  19. Make the content a quiz on your website.
  20. Use the content to create a flowchart.

Think of your content as building blocks

Let go of thinking that each piece of content you create is made concrete– permanent, unbreakable, or fixed. Instead, start thinking of it more as Lego bricks or building blocks – larger works made up of smaller components, capable of being reassembled into endless forms. (I know you remember building them as a kid.)
