Pinterest Launches New Search Function: 4 Things You Need To Know

Pinterest is one of the most widely used social media platforms on the internet, but often overlooked by small businesses in their social media strategy. As Pinterest puts it “the new in-Pin search feature is now available that allows users to focus on one element and search Pinterest for specific results on the isolated image. This allows users to choose just one portion of the original pin and get more granular detail on that item.” For a demonstration of what this In-Pin search will look like, Pinterest’s blog has a great visual. So there’s no more “What shoes is that model wearing?’” or “Where is that couch from?” This will make finding specific items in a picture much easier for users, and that’s big news for marketers.

This new search function means you don’t need to actual type in the text to find something, which is very helpful to those using a mobile screen. We’ve said it before: mobile is huge. Forbes says that by 2017, 87% of connected device sales will be tablets and smartphones. Google has also previously mentioned that mobile usability is relevant for optimal search results. Obviously, Pinterest is making sure they’re keeping up with the mobile takeover.
