What A Bald Man Learned at Inbound 17

by Article by Remington Begg Remington Begg | October 7, 2017 at 5:00 PM

INBOUND 17 is over and it’s time digest, strategize, and implement all the magical boom sauce we took away from the in-depth sessions. This is where the rubber meets the road, where the stew is cooked, where the magic happens, where actions speak louder than words, where I stop making bad idioms.

The 3 - 4 day conference was filled with Spotlight Speakers, epic Keynote Speeches, Breakout Sessions, networking time and even a daily happy hour. I’d like to quickly go through my schedule to give you a taste of what type of knowledge traveled from Boston to Fort Myers...all to benefit our awesome clients.

If you’d like to know more about my entire INBOUND 17 experience, check this out.

Monday:

Keynote Speaker - Brené Brown

Brené’s talk was all about empathy towards our others. It seems like a lot of the people in the world are always at someone’s throat. There’s the middle east, there’s the political climate in the United States, there are so many things that we hate because we don’t agree or understand them.

Brené said something that grabbed me in relation to all this turmoil. She said it’s easy to hate someone or something from far away, but get close, have a conversation with the other side, human to human. You’ll find that things are hard to hate when you can relate to them on a human level.

So so true.

Tuesday:

My Tuesday was full of great insight, but the speaker I learned the most from was Rex Gelb, the HubSpot Principal Marketing Manager of Paid Acquisition.

Rex has been in charge of million dollar Facebook and Google advertising budgets. Wow right! He went over what he’s learn and how to get them most bang for your paid ad dollars. One thing that I took away is that even with all the experience, he said that 90% of Facebook ad campaigns fail when they are launched. It’s a constant process of pivoting, tweaking, and adjustments that make paid campaigns produce ROI. It’s so great to know I’m not alone on this paid ad island!
